Baguio looks at registering all residents on BIMP app for e-governance

Baguio City, Philippines – With its aim to promote e-government ecosystem to include cashless payment transactions, citizen data management, contact tracing and other essential services for Baguio residents, the City LGU has been pushing for the Baguio In My Pocket (BIMP) free smart phone application.


BIMP app include features like digitalized barangay inhabitants’ registration records with a “Know Your Citizen” module, citizen patrol apps, and business portal that will offer online marketplace, e – wallet, cashless transaction and e – government transactions, among others.

Said app was launched on November 9, 2020 alongside with the Transport Pre-Alert and Support System (T-Pass).


According to PIO Baguio, they have already registered around 30,000 individuals in the city.

The City LGU is expecting more enrolees of the BIMP due to their registration and information campaigns.


City Mayor’s Office chief of staff Engr. Philip Puzon said more than 80 authorized registration officers (AROs) have been trained for the system who were accredited by the local civil registry office, adding that pilot testing was successful.

Puzon further said that “The goal is to register every Baguio resident, each family member, to the free BIMP application.” City government officials and employees were also mandated to to enrol in the BIMP app last month.


The app according to Puzon is now being utilized for business and real property tax assessments with its QR code features for entry protection and access to City Hall.


For this year, full implementation of the business portal app (scan to check-in) on January 11; Online Marketplace, Market to Home Delivery, Riders’ app and E-Gov Online Payment, all on February 15 is being eyed.
