Benguet Stingers wins big in wrestling competition

Luna, Apayao - The Benguet Stingers are bringing home the bacon from the wrestling competition as they hauled 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze in various weight categories for women.

In said event held at the Bacsay Multi-Purpose Hall in Luna, Apayao, Junree Caweng for the 48-kilogram division, Cyrell Willian for the 52-kilogram division and Athena Manalog for the 68-kilogram division triumphed over other contenders.

Other delegations, shared the gold in the remaining divisions.

In the 40-kilogram division, Apayao’s Jolina Rostata placed first. Three other athletes representing the Apayao Eagles were silver medalists while two others won bronze.


For Baguio City, Trisha Mae De Vera snatched a gold medal in the 48-kilogram division while 2 others got silver and another collected a bronze medal.


Nazarie Mae Dumalilis of the Ifugao Builders team was proclaimed first in the 52-kilogram division while another one from same team shared 1 silver in the medal tally while tree others collected bronze.


Meantime, Kalinga Bulls’ Lynemar Congnga has also snatched gold in the 52-kilogram division and 4 others from the same team were bronze medalists.


As for Mountain Province, their team got a gold medal in the 44-kilogram division in the person of LJ Xyserlyn Dongpopen. Fours others from said team also took home 4 bronze medals.


In the men division, Benguet tied with Baguio City in the medal tally, snatching 3 gold each in different categories.


Gold medalists for Benguet are Deanhill Tindaan in the 58 kg category, Charles Calawen for the 62-kilogram category and Hart Jason Bewasen (66 kg)


For Baguio, Smith Iseguen (42 kg), Zwengel Moses (50 kg) and Josh Iverson Mateo (52 kg) were the gold medalists.


Meanwhile, Apayao Eagle’s Ronie Soldo is the first placer for the 45 kilogram category and Ifugao Builder’s Krish Jaylor Buyayao for the 54-kilogram category.
