Tinglayan, Kalinga – Honoring women in Tinglayan, Mayor Charles Abay called for the continued cooperation of constituents and communities in building spaces where women are safe, secure, and protected.

Represented by Samson Ongat, Mayor Charles Abay celebrated with the women in the municipality on March 20, where he highlighted their invaluable contributions—from nurturing families and leading communities to shaping values and driving progress.

Our women, Abay said, have always been at the heart of nation-building, and their enduring strength and dedication continue to inspire positive change in the homes they nurture and in the communities they serve.

“In Tinglayan, we are proud of the many women who serve as leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, and community champions – each playing a vital role in our collective development,” Abay added.

The local chief executive likewise mentioned that the Municipal Local Government Unit of Tinglayan remains committed to promoting gender equality and women empowerment by initiating and implementing responsive programs and policies that protect women from violence, expand access to education and livelihood opportunities, and ensure women’s meaningful participation in governance and decision-making.

Abay, however, asserted that government initiatives and commitment alone cannot uphold women empowerment and protection. He emphasized the need for the continued cooperation of communities and individuals, saying that pursuing equality is a shared responsibility.

“Our work does not end here. Let this celebration remind us that the pursuit of equality is a shared responsibility. Together, we must continue to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and build a community where every woman feels safe, valued, and empowered,” he said.

Abay ended his message by directly addressing women, saying, “To all women of Tinglayan, we celebrate you – not only today, but every day. Your courage, compassion, and determination are the foundations of a stronger and more progressive municipality.”
