‘Duterte wants Magalong to stay as tracing czar’ - Roque

Baguio City, Philippines – Presidential Spokersperson Harry Roque on Tuesday, February 2, is certain that the president would want City Mayor Benjamin Magalong to stay as the contact tracing czar.

Roque said that President Rodrigo Duterte praises the city mayor, “I have heard with my own two ears nothing but words of praises for mayor Magalong from the President.”

With this, he said Duterte would surely want him to keep his post.

“So of course, I am sure, 100 percent sure, that the President would want mayor Magalong to stay on as tracing czar,” he said.

Earlier, Magalong said that he cannot refuse the president if the latter would want him to stay and perform his duty as tracing czar. However, he said, with the busy schedule of the president, his resignation will be decided on the level of Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr.

“I cannot refuse the president. Pero hindi naman siguro aabot na kay Presidente, ang dami ng problema ni Presidente. Siguro at the level of Secretary Galvez, makapag-desisyon na,” he said in his interview with ANC earlier this February 2.
