Tabuk City, Kalinga – Women across Kalinga are set to benefit from free medical services as the Provincial Health Office (PHO) announced the upcoming visit of Obstetrician-Gynecologist (OB-GYN) specialists from the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS), who will provide consultations, diagnostic procedures, and other essential women's healthcare services in the province on June 18.

The announcement was made by Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Edward Tandingan during the regular flag-raising ceremony held on June 15 at the Kalinga Sports Center in Bulanao.

According to Tandingan, the OB-GYN specialists will visit Kalinga on June 18 to conduct a learning session for local healthcare workers and a medical service mission at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital (KPH).

The specialists will offer free consultations and diagnostic services, including screening procedures for cervical and breast cancer. Tandingan said one of the key services to be provided is the Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA), a simple but effective screening test used to detect early signs of cervical cancer.

“Nag-offer da nga umay agisuro ti additional knowledge and updates kadagitoy health workers tayo panggep ti saksakit wenno kondisyon nga makaapektar kadagiti kababaihan. Ultrasound services will also be available during the mission. However, Tandingan clarified that the ultrasound examinations are intended for women in other age groups who may require diagnostic imaging and are not specifically for pregnant patients.

The Provincial Health Officer emphasized that all services will be provided free of charge and are intended to encourage women to seek early consultation, preventive care, and timely diagnosis of potential health concerns.

Tandingan also called on families throughout the province to help spread information about the program and encourage female relatives to take advantage of the free services.

“Part metlang daytoy service ket diay ultrasound—ngem haan nga para kadagidiay buntis, no di ket para kadagiti kayat nga agpa-ultrasound. Awan ti bayad na, ket maaw-awisan dagitoy women. Kadakayo nga males, bagaan yo dagiti asawa yo, annak yo nga babae, wenno kakabsat yo,” he said.
