Gov. Bulut welcomes CARAA 2024 participants in Apayao


Luna, Apayao – Governor Elias Bulut Jr. warmly welcomed thousands of delegates representing eight provinces and cities of the Cordillera Region during the kick-off of the 2024 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet on Monday, April 15 at the Apayao Eco Tourism and Sports Complex (AETSC).


Bulut Jr., in his talk, recalled the years past when Apayao hosted the regional sporting event in 2013 and 2019, and said he was glad of the turn out and positive developments.


This year is the province’s third time hosting the event gathering over 6,000 student-athletes, officials, and coaches across the region.


The Governor underscored the significance of the athletic event saying the coming together of participants in the biggest sporting event in the region resonates the shared principles of inclusivity and solidarity of the Cordillerans.


With said event’s importance, he reminded the delegates to keep in mind that true victory is not only by amassing medals but the connections and friendships form while embarking on their journey as participants.


“To the athletes, I challenge you to not only excel in your respective fields but also to build last connections and friendships throughout this undertaking. May your performances inspire us all and showcase the true spirit of sportsmanship and fair play,” he conveyed.


As for the guest and visitors, the governor who is also the Chairperson of the Regional Development Council – Cordillera (RDC-CAR) extended an invitation for them to experience the beauty and warmth of the province, further encouraging them to celebrate not just the games but also the culture and hospitality the yApayaos has to offer.


Meantime, the governor also acknowledged in her speech the steadfast support of various local government in the province and the tireless efforts of the Department of Education-Apayao headed by Schools Division Superintendent Irene Angway for bringing the event into reality.
