Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga leaders took to the runway in this year’s edition of the Laga Fashion Show to demonstrate their commitment to supporting and strengthening the province’s weaving industry.

The 2026 Laga Fashion Show was staged on February 14 at the Kalinga Sports Center in Bulanao as part of the 7th Bodong Festival and the 31st Kalinga Founding Anniversary celebration. What made this year’s event special was the active participation of provincial and local leaders on the runway.

Governor James Edduba led the local leaders in walking the stage clad in Silambituwon and Silak’ Sakaw ensembles designed and created by Joon Ascaño. The Silambituwon, one of the most prestigious textile motifs in Kalinga, is characterized by a geometric hexagram pattern, while the Silak’ Sakaw features an intricate lattice-like design. Combined, the patterns radiate “cultural prestige, symbolic depth, and masterful craftsmanship.”

Edduba was joined on the runway by members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Kalinga, including Board Members Christopher Dona-al, Camilo Lammawin, Alfredo Dangani, Roger Saga-oc, Bernard Glenn Dao-as, Romeo Saclag, SK Federation President Rasha Ariadz S. Campilis, and Philippine Councilors League-Kalinga Chapter President, Councilor Marc Rainier Duguiang.

Local officials from across the city and municipalities of Kalinga also participated. Among them were Mayors Almar Malannag, Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, Charles Abay, Silvestre Mosing, Joel Tagaotao (represented by Vice Mayor Oliver Dickly), and Darwin Estranero.

Moreover, Kalinga Congresswoman Caroline Agyao and 5th Infantry Division Commander, MGen. Gulliver Señires, also joined the event.

The segment concluded with Joon Ascaño, the designer of most of the attires worn by government officials, strutting the runway himself.
