Abra, Philippines – Another shooting incident was recorded in the Province of Abra, this time involving a barangay tanod who was tending his rice field in Lagangilang town.

The victim, identified as Flor Baro, a barangay tanod in Taping, was in his rice field when two unidentified gunmen arrived and opened fire. Initial police investigation, as cited by the Mountain Beacon on March 26, revealed that Baro attempted to save himself by diving into a nearby creek. However, his attackers continued shooting and pursued him.

After shooting the victim multiple times, the assailants fled, leaving Baro with wounds to his chest, neck, and leg. The tanod survived the incident after being taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

According to police authorities, Baro was able to identify one of his attackers, leading investigators to consider a possible dispute between the victim and the suspect as the motive for the crime. Additionally, a hot pursuit operation against the assailants has already been launched by the police to locate and arrest the suspects.

Two weeks ago, a barangay kagawad in Peñarrubia was gunned down along the Peñarrubia-Bangued provincial road. The victim was found lying lifeless at the roadside and was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
