‘I shall guard your money as my life’ – New Lubuagan Mayor on ensuring transparency

Lubuagan, Kalinga — New Lubuagan Mayor Joel Tagaotao promised yLubuagans that he will protect the public’s money, stating his administration shall be honest and transparent.

“I shall guard your money as my life and make sure that every centavo of it is judiciously and equitably spent to everyone’s knowledge,” Tagaotao conveyed during the turn-over and oath taking ceremony of new set of leaders in the municipality on June 28.

In his message, the newly installed mayor highlighted three aspects of his administration – transparency, public’s participation and consultation as well as coordination and maintaining harmonious relationship.

“This administration shall not undertake, much less approve useless government spending or approval of any project that has not undergone genuine and thorough public consultation,” he expressed.

Tagaotao also conveyed that one of the keys to effective governance is establishing a harmonious relationship with the people, employees, and government agencies in order to pursue goals and effectively execute his vision and mission for the betterment of Lubuagan.

“Success and every victory won in public service is the result of unity and hard work. I cannot do this alone, you cannot also perform your task alone. I need your cooperation, I need your help,” Tagaotao appealed.

According to Tagaotao, his administration wants to focus on the development of potential tourism areas such as the agri-farm tourism and culture, infrastructures such as construction and rehabilitation of waterworks systems, more scholarship programs, livelihood skills and training, giving importance to agri-business marketing, youth empowerment, and peace and order and social welfare development.
