Igorot General takes over helm of PNP Special Action Force

Besao, Mt. Province - Police Brigadier General Rudolph Botengan Dimas, a proud Igorot from Besao, Mt. Province took over the helm of the Special Action Force of the Philippine National Police.


This is following the turnover ceremony presided over by PNP Chief, Police Gen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr. on Monday, February 27, at the SAF Headquarters, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City.


Dimas replaced PMGEN Edgar Alan Okubo who now heads the police in National Capital Region as Regional Director.


Who is Dimas?


Dimas is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1992.


He served as the Provincial Director of Camarines Norte PNP from November 2015 to October 2017 and was installed as the Director of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) before he was assigned as the 40th regional director of the Bicol region in August 2022.


In his talk, the new PNP SAF Director thanked the agency for trusting him with the responsibility. He vowed to take the “main muscle” of the police force to greater heights, especially in the conduct of operations against terrorism, insurgency, and criminality.

He further swore to maintain the high standards set forth by the PNP’s elite force as he continue his predecessor’s legacy. Likewise, he committed to upholding the rule of law in protecting the people from all forms of threats and violence.


Dimas was welcomed by the PNP Chief who also expressed gratitude to Okubo for his services in addressing terrorism, insurgency, and other high-risk situations.

“As we witness this transition of leadership, let us all remember that the success of the SAF is anchored on the collective effort and commitment of every member of the organization. So, let us work together, in ensuring that undeniably, the PNP SAF for its 39 years of existence - has given extraordinary and gallant service to God, country, and people guided by your motto - By Skills and Virtue, We Triumph,” stated Azurin.
