La Trinidad, Benguet – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–Cordillera (PDEA-CAR) has allocated P96 million for its 2026 reward system to strengthen public participation in the fight against illegal drugs, following the granting of cash incentives to two civilian informants on April 8, 2026, at the Police Regional Office–Cordillera in Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet. Their information led to successful anti-drug operations in the region.

PDEA implements a reward and incentive program called Operation Private Eye (OPE)—a citizen-based information initiative that encourages the public to report illegal drug activities in their communities.

Informants remain anonymous and are identified only through code names for their safety. They receive cash rewards once their information is verified and leads to successful operations, with the amount based on the volume or value of drugs seized and the arrest of suspects.

According to PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez, in an interview with PIA–CAR, the current administration has surpassed the drug seizure records of past administrations, highlighting the gains of its anti-drug campaign in just over two years.

He also urged the public to report any information on illegal drug activities, such as drug selling or the operation of drug dens, to authorities.

“We are encouraging yung ating kababayan, kung meron silang nalalaman tungkol sa mga pagbebenta ng droga o kaya pagmi-maintain ng drug den, isumbong ninyo sa PNP, sa PDEA or sa NBI,” he said.

Two informants receive reward

Meanwhile, PDEA-CAR and the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) awarded two civilian informants a total of P496,342.92 in cash incentives.

The agency said the top informant received P369,363.06 for information that led to the seizure of over 61 kilos of marijuana in Barangay Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga, on October 3, 2025.

The second informant received P126,979.86 for a tip that led to the confiscation of more than 21 kilos of marijuana and the arrest of two individuals at the Legarda–Burnham–Kisad parking area in Baguio City on July 11, 2025.
