Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)–CAR, led by Regional Director Enrique Gascon, has begun distributing cash assistance on April 8 at the City Gymnasium to registered tricycle drivers, prioritizing those in Tabuk City, with drivers from the municipalities set to receive aid in the coming days.

The assistance is part of the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program, which provides emergency financial aid to individuals and families affected by crises, particularly the continuous rise in fuel prices.

In a media briefing, Gascon said he hopes the financial assistance will help ease the burden on drivers affected by rising fuel costs.

Gascon added that tricycle drivers are being prioritized, with drivers from the municipalities scheduled to receive assistance on April 16. He also noted that there are already around 6,000 drivers region-wide—including the 1,187 in Tabuk City—who are set to benefit, with the number expected to increase further.

The regional director also assured that those who were not included in the submitted list or were unable to meet the cutoff will still be accommodated in a separate payout schedule once their registrations are verified.
