Tabuk City, Kalinga – As the arrival of the Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines, Archbishop Charles John Brown, draws near, the Provincial Government of Kalinga is intensifying preparations for the historic visit, which is expected to draw over 100 clergy members.

During the Kapehan Meeting on May 4 at the New Conference Hall in Capitol Hill, Bulanao, Governor James S. Edduba said the province is making the necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated reception for the Vatican’s diplomatic representative.

The Apostolic Nuncio’s visit forms part of his official engagements in the country ahead of the episcopal ordination and installation of Rev. Fr. Sean Mejia as the third Apostolic Vicar of Tabuk, scheduled on June 2.

Speaking during the meeting, Rev. Fr. Odilon Aranca said the province is expecting a large delegation, with confirmed attendees from various sectors of the Church and government.

Fr. Aranca noted that the total number of attendees currently stands at 145, with more confirmations expected in the coming days.

“Ti number ti Bishops ket 35... Ti papadi met ket 91, 11 ti mamadre ken five others pay. So all in all, 145 as of now paylang ti adda ditoy attendance ket we expect nga manaynayunan tu pay daytoy,” he said.

Rev. Fr. George Manisem added that the latest list of expected visitors arriving on June 1 includes representatives from several dioceses across the country, including delegates from the Diocese of Apayao.

Meanwhile, Governor Edduba said some visitors are expected to arrive ahead of the main event, with others planning to stay longer to explore the province.

“…so adu ti bisita ket kayat da metlang talaga nga bumisita, and some of them will be staying in the province. They will be coming ahead of the event, tapnu agpasyar da kanu ditoy Kalinga sakbay diay event proper,” he said.

With preparations in full swing, Edduba expressed optimism that the visit will be a significant milestone not only for the Catholic Church but also for the province, strengthening both spiritual and cultural ties.
