Kalinga Tourism Officer slams ‘tour package’ being offered online

Tabuk City, Kalinga―Kalinga Provincial Tourism Officer Lorraine Ngao-i is reminding those who are planning to take a package tour in the province being offered online that all tourism activities in the province are still prohibited.

Ngao-i reiterated that the Executive Order banning tourism activities released by the Local Chief Executives (LCE) are still in effect.

According to Ngao-i, she was informed through her messenger that a tour organizer posted online offering package tours to Buscalan, Tinglayan.

She said that the organizer was warned and instructed to delete the post on Facebook.

“First lang na nakita namin since may nag-send ng screenshot, though may nag-sasabi na may mga groups offering the same kaso ito lang nakita namin,” she narrated.

At first, the people behind the post did not comply with their appeal and even reasoned out, but eventually they admitted their mistake and assured to release a public apology.

Meantime, Ngao-i revealed that their office together with the tourism officers of the municipalities and the city is working to craft a standard protocol to balance the observation of public health safety and tourism activities once the province will open its tourism industry.

Added to that, she is asking for the cooperation and understanding of everyone who are planning to visit Kalinga, specifically Buscalan, to be considerate as the welfare of the majority is their utmost priority.

In connection, the Provincial Tourism announced that documentaries or research of legitimate groups/individuals can only be accommodated, but are mandated to secure Free, Prior, and Informed Consent(FPIC) from the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples pursuant to National Advisory No. 2021-08-001.
