Kalinga wheelchair racer Mangliwan gets another gold in ASEAN Para Games 2022



Tabuk City, Kalinga – As the 2022 ASEAN Para Games progresses, Kalinga wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan got another gold for the Philippines Thursday morning, August 4, 2022.


Mangliwan snatched the first gold for the country in today’s games after winning in the Para Athletics Men’s 400m T52 race. The said medal is the second gold secured by Mangliwan in the competition.

As recalled, he delivered a golden performance in the men’s 100-meter T52 race on August 1.


Apart from Mangliwan, another Kalinga pride, Romeo Tayawa, brought home two bronze medals for the country. Tayawa won the medals in the best and total lift events in the Men's Powerlifting 54kg. category in August.


Two days before the closing of this year’s ASEAN Para Games, the Philippines is still in the 5th spot with 61 medals as of 4:00 PM of August 4.


Indonesia is still the leading country in the competition.
