Lamut, Ifugao to hold ‘Plantito-Plantita Festival’

Lamut, Ifugao – Aiming to provide a venue for ‘plantitos and plantitas’ to showcase their products and help them gain a little from their business, the municipal government of Lamut through its Tourism Office will be holding ‘Plantito-Plantita Festival’ from October 29, 2021 to November 8, 2021.


The registration is open until October 25, 2021, with a non-refundable P500 fee. The fee shall be used to augment expenses for booth installation, water consumption and other maintenance expenses during the event.


To maintain social distancing, only 25 participants shall be accommodated.

The festival will be held at JM Farm and Restaurant, Payawan, Lamut, Ifugao.

Guidelines


According to the Lamut Tourism Office, participants in the festival must be residents of Ifugao and all entries for the best variety must be homegrown.


Entries must be pre-achromatized to Lamut climate prior to its submission as an entry. The organizers are not responsible for any damage as a result of plant reaction to weather conditions.


Booths measuring 4m x 2m will be provided to participants who want to sell their plants varieties.


A separate booth will be given for participants who only wish to display their plants during the festival.


Flower/Plant Contest Category


There are seven categories of the contest, including Aglaonema, Philodendron, Succulent, Caladium, Ivy, Bougainvillea, and Special Category. Plants and ornamentals which were not in the main categories shall be included under Special Category.


A participant must submit one entry for each category but must have at least 5 entries from the 7 categories in order to qualify for the competition.


Criteria for judging


Entries will be judged by the health of the plant, its size and color for 50%, the number of online likes or voting for 30%, and general presentation and plant description for 20%.


Prizes for Winners


P3,000 cash prize will be awarded to plantitos and plantitas who will win in each of the categories.


“We came up with this Plantito-Plantita Festival hoping that it will serve its purpose to the best it can provide to our people considering the current situation wherein business operations and tourism activities were greatly affected,” Lamut Tourism Operations Officer Harvey Gumayon stated.
