Man dies while getting palm fronds at Mount Polis, Bontoc

Bontoc, Mt. Province – In preparation for the Palm Sunday tomorrow, a man climbed Mount Polis in Bayyo village of Bontoc supposedly to get palm fronds this Saturday, April 1, 2023.

The adult male was later found unconscious at 10:25 a.m. by a concerned individual who immediately asked help from authorities.

Bontoc Municipal Police Station then notified the Emergency Operations Center. The Regional Mobile Force Batallion 15 1501st Maneuver Company (RMFB15 1501st MC) and the members of the Brotherhood of Saint Andrew (BSA) were the first to respond, followed by the personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

They transported Winston Fagyan who was unconscious to Bontoc General Hospital for medication. However, at 11:54 a.m., he was declared dead by the attending physician due to Acute Myocardial Infarction.

Fagyan was 47, married, and a resident of Samoki, Bontoc.

The municipal government of Bontoc expressed gratitude to the first responders and extended its condolences to the grieving family of Fagyan.
