Market vendors in Tabuk victimized with fake P500 bill

Updated: Oct 24, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Bulanao Public Market vendors were reportedly victimized by customers using fake P500 bills recently.

The latest victim was an elderly vendor selling ‘petchay’ and ‘mandarin’. In a video uploaded on October 18, 2022, on Facebook, the elderly woman narrated that somebody bought her produce and paid her P500 bill. The victim then gave her a change of P420. She later discovered that the P500 bill was fake.

“Pangaasim man ta isublim dayta kwartak nga binaryaak nga gumatang ka iti mandarin ken petchay. Kaasyan nak met ah ta baket ak. Ginundawayan nak pay nga permi. Awan galansiyak pulos,” the woman pleaded.

On October 15, another woman also received a fake P500 from a buyer. Other vendors at the Bulanao Public Market claimed to have experienced the same.

‘Makonsensiya kayo met iti kakabsat tayo’

In a phone interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Punong Barangay of Bulanao, Cosme Gunnawa appealed to the people using fake bills to reflect on their actions and stop victimizing the vendors who are working hard to provide for their daily living.

“Dagita agigat-gatang iti peke, nakita yu diay baket, kakaasi, nga pinag-ut na lang kanu idiay garden na diay tapnu makagatang iti sukat na iti asin ken asukar ket pineke tayo pay. Ket apay haan tayo lang makonsensiya idiay en?” he said.

Gunnawa, who refunded the P500 to the elderly, likewise asked the public to report to the barangay or the police those individuals who are using fake money.

“Isu nga idaw-dawat ko kuma … nu adda kasdiay nga madlaw da ket haan da kuma nga agbuteng nga mapan iti barangay wennu pulis … uray sino dayta nga tattao, anya man iti il-ili na, haan da nga agbuteng nga agipulong tapnu mapasardeng tayo iti kakasta,” he conveyed.

Gunnawa recalled that there was the same case last year where a woman was using fake bills to deceive the vendors at Bulanao Public Market but after she was caught and later left the city, no similar incident transpired until recently.
