Mayor Abay calls on adventurers for Tinglayan’s Lumin-awa Trek

Tinglayan, Kalinga – With the Municipality of Tinglayan all set for the 2026 Lumin-awa Trek, Mayor Charles Abay is inviting adventurers and nature enthusiasts to experience the town’s rich heritage, scenic landscapes, and the opportunity to meet the legendary Apo Whang-od on February 5–7, 2026.


The three-day adventure, which will start in Char-ig, Mallango, will pass through culturally significant villages such as Sumadel, Tulgao, Dananao, Butbut Proper, and Buscalan.


Thrilled that the next stop of the Lumin-awa Trek is in Tinglayan, Mayor Abay encouraged the public to come and experience the municipality’s vibrant culture, beautiful landscapes, and calming mountain scenery. He added that Apo Whang-od will personally receive and tattoo participants on the third day of the event.


“Come and explore the breathtaking beauty of Tinglayan and immerse yourself in its rich and vibrant culture. Adu dagitoy activities nga insagana iti Lumin-awa Trek Committee ken dagiti communities tayo ditoy Tinglayan. Isu nga come and make memories with friends, loved ones, and new friends,” he said.

Participants are reminded that a P500.00 environmental fee, which covers five barangays, will be collected. Additionally, a medical certificate secured at least two weeks before February 5 and a valid government-issued ID must be presented before the start of the trek.
