Lubuagan,Kalinga – Lubuagan Mayor Charisma Anne Dickpus has urged a ‘house-to-house’ visitation in all barangays of the municipality to better explain ordinances, laws, and directives by the government.

“Ti kayat tayo kuma this 2022, nu adda man programa or ordinances ket maymayat sa nga ibalbalay tayu man nga apan ibaga kadagiti tattao ditoy Lubuagan,” Mayor Dickpus said during the LGU’s recent weekly Kapehan sa Munisipyo held Monday at the Lubuagan municipal compound.

Dickpus’ statement came after she welcomed police officers appointed to be stationed in Lubuagan assigned thru a Commission on Election (Comelec) Memorandum Order to reshuffle law enforcers during the election period to avoid partisan election.

“Ta nu mamingsan, nu maiyan-announce lang around nga us-usaren lang diay microphone, haan da maawatan ken haan tayu nga masungbatan dagiay queries. So if we could ask the PNP nu adda dagitoy nga programa, especially our ordinances ket mapan tayu kuma i-explain house-to-house kuma tapnu masungbatan nga dagus nu anya man dagiti damag dagiti tattao,” Dickpus expressed.

COMELEC Checkpoint and Gun Ban

Dickpus also cited the recently mandated Comelec checkpoint wherein gun ban is likewise being enforced. The mayor requested the police if they could inform and update the people about the new mandate and program by going to barangays.

“Ta uray nu maibaga, ket adda latta ti mangaw-awit ti firearms sadanto mapan agpapatulong nga ‘awan ti ammo mi’ kalan cha nu matukmaan cha,” she said suggesting that strong massive information campaign can stop troubles from happening.

“Haan tayu kuma nga urayen nga adda manen iti matiliw. Masapul iti massive information kadagiti tattao,” the mayor said.

As a lawyer herself, one of Dickpus’ desire is to make yLubuagens more knowledgeable of the law. She believes that obtaining peace starts with having knowledge about the law and obeying it.

“Nu mamingsan, we know that there is a law mandated by the government ngem agkurang tayu latta nu saan tayu nga ma-explain nga usto kadagiti kailyan tayo karkaru nu maipanggep kadagiti national directives,” Mayor Dickpus said through a separate virtual interview with Guru Press Cordillera.

“Nu panggep met iti local ordinances; we make sure that our constituents are involved. Before we come up with an ordinance, we have to make sure that their voices are heard, diay mas adu iti mangkayat wenno saan nga mangkayat to also balance. We ask them their opinions… per barangay met lang dayta,” she informed.
