Burnt newborn abandoned inside trash bin in Baggao, Cagayan

Updated: Apr 30, 2023

Cagayan, Philippines – A newly born baby was found dead inside a trash bin at a boarding house compound in San Jose village, Baggao, Cagayan on Wednesday, April 26.

The residents and the landlady on Tuesday saw burning garbage but did not see who set it. While cleaning the area the next morning, the landlady discovered that what was thought to be a doll inside the trash bin turned out to be a baby boy.

When found, the newborn named by authorities as “Angelo” has still uncut umbilical cord with his half body burned, and his missing leg was believed to have been eaten by a dog.

Authorities will conduct an autopsy to determine the main cause of the baby’s death.

Meanwhile, Baggao police have identified seven persons of interest who may be involved in abandoning and burning the newborn.

Just on April 11 this same year, a newly born baby was found with his head wrapped in cellophane beside the river in Mungayang, Kiangan, Ifugao.
