Tabuk City, Kalinga – No students and teachers were infected with Covid-19 virus during the pilot face-to-face classes in the first three schools in the city, says Department of Education Tabuk City.

Face-to-face classes in Tabuk in this new normal were piloted at Toppan Integrated School, Guilayon Integrated School, and San Pablo Integrated School last November 29, 2021.

Dr. Irene Angway, Schools Division Superintendent, said that no one tested positive during the classes saying, “Walang nag-positive, walang incident naman na pwedeng masabi na dahil doon.”

Meantime, expanding the coverage of in-class sessions in Tabuk City, another 31 schools have been recently qualified to start their in-person classes on February 22, 2022.

In case of infection, contact tracing to be done immediately

Angway explained that there is a triage set-up at the school which the learners and educators have to undergo before they start their classes.

She added that each school has set-up an isolation area for anyone who will show any symptoms of Covid-19. Once a student or teacher demonstrates the symptoms, the individual shall be accommodated in the room before the health department comes to provide further diagnosis and treatment.

Should the person test positive for Covid-19, contact tracing will immediately be conducted.

Meanwhile, Angway said that the learners who are studying at the schools granted authority to conduct face-to-face classes are so far enjoying their sessions.
