Old man dies in tragic road crash in Banaue, Ifugao

Banaue, Ifugao – A senior citizen was declared dead following a road accident in Haguer, Bangaan, Banaue on Monday, April 13, 2026.

The 2nd Ifugao Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC) reported that the victim, identified by police as Leon Magangat, was on board a Mitsubishi Pajero when the accident occurred.

Based on photos released by authorities, the victim was retrieved from a river below the road along with his totally wrecked vehicle.

He was examined and declared dead by the attending physician.

Meanwhile, the 2nd IPMFC reminded the public to exercise caution when driving on zigzag roads, advising motorists to remain alert, reduce speed when necessary, and prioritize safety at all times.

It can be recalled that on the same day, another vehicular accident occurred in Banaue, particularly along Sitio Awan Igid in Viewpoint, where two motorists were involved. Search and rescue teams rushed to the area upon receiving reports of the incident.

One of the victims was recovered from a ravine below the road. Despite the efforts of responding authorities, one of the two did not survive his injuries.
