Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Department of Agriculture Cordillera Administrative Region reports that vouchers amounting to P25,944,990.79 are now being distributed to around 8,271 farmers in this city as assistance under the Rice Resiliency Project (RRP) II Fertilizer Component.

Said project is under the Ahon Lahat, Pagkain Sapat kontra COVID-19 (ALPAS COVID-19), also known as “Plant, Plant, Plant Program which aims to increase local price production to combat global trade uncertainties and put the country into a more food-secure position during this pandemic.

In a report released today, march 10, the agency said the farmer-beneficiaries and those who received hybrid and inbred seeds under the program in the city are enrolled in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture.

Vouchers received by the farmers, the agency said, shall be used in claiming their fertilizers from the 14 accredited merchants in the city.

Each beneficiary received vouchers based on their registered rice land area. In a report from the City Information Office of Tabuk on January, farmers who received inbred rice seeds shall be given 2 bags of fertilizer while farmers who received hybrid rice seeds will get 3 bags of fertilizer.

As Tabuk City is the pilot area for the e-voucher system, DA-Cordillera has partnered with the Development Bank of the Philippines- Baguio for the distribution.

According to DA-Cordillera, the launching alongside the simulation of the distribution of vouchers commenced on March 4 following a meeting with the selected farmers and different accredited merchants to assess the implementation of the activity for continuous improvement.

Distributions, DA said are currently being conducted in the different store locations within the city until March 15.
