Bangued, Abra – In celebration of the 104th Founding Anniversary of Abra, the provincial government conducted a drive-thru installation of Easytrip Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) for motorist in the locality.

On March 9, 2021, the provincial government reported that around 458 car and van owners availed of the Easytrip RFID stickers which could be placed either in windshields, headlights, or license plate. Those who availed of said sticker paid an initial load of P200.00.

The Easytrip RFID is for Class 1 vehicle owners which include cars, Sport Utility Vehicles, and passenger vans utilizing the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway (SCTE), Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Cavite- Laguna Expressway.

Said sticker, when passing through toll gates, transmits digital data back to the reader and subtracts the payment without a cashier's physical intervention, thereby reducing face-to-face transactions which consequently prevents virus transmission as well as ease traffic condition on highways.

Abra Governor Joy Bernos, in a report from the provincial government, said that the activity will be conducted for two days on March 9 and 10 to accommodate motorists specially those who are frequently travelling to the capital town.

“Agtultuloy met a maidaya ti nasao nga installation agingga inton bigat (March 10) from 9am to 4pm babaen iti koordinasion ti Metro Pacific Tollways ken ti PGA” Bernos said.

As recalled, the DOTR mandated said Cashless Transaction August last year through Department Order 2020-012 directing concerned agencies of the Department, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and Land Transportation Office-Philippines (LTO), to formulate new processes and procedures for safety and smooth implementation of cashless transactions on toll expressways.
