P24.3-M Waterworks project in Lower Tanudan nears completion

Tanudan, Kalinga - P24.3 million worth of Level III waterworks project is now 80% completed and soon to expand Lower Tanudan’s access for potable water supply.

The establishment of level III waterworks systems is funded with the initiative of Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang through the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), considering the need to expand the waterworks systems of the lower areas due to inadequate supply of clean water to households.

Residents in Sitios Alubaggan, Baccong, Bawac, Se-et, and Barangays Lower Taloctoc and Lower Mangali are expected to benefit from the project.

Fernando Cosidon of the Office of the Congressman relates that, as of now, the construction of the waterworks systems is in the final stage of installing the water tanks, after which, the drilling for the facilities will be next.

In Sitios Alubaggan, Baccong, Bawac, and Barangays Lower Taloctoc and Lower Mangali, a 5,000 gallon water reservoir will be installed in each barangay while a 20,000 gallon will be installed for Se-et, Mabaca, since it is near to the Sub-Municipal Hall and elementary school.

Cosidon said that to ensure the sustainability of the project, an ordinance will be crafted, providing policies on the financing and maintenance of conveyance facilities, treatment facilities, and water source.

The ordinance shall form the legal basis for the utilization of fees collected and for the appointment of officers to run the waterworks. Additionally, said ordinance is expected to exact accountability and responsibility from the officers who shall ensure the sustainability of the project.

Meantime, Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag expressed his gratitude for the prompt implementation of the project, saying that it has been a long-time request of the residents together with the barangay officials to provide safe potable water to the sitios and barangays.
