Pasil ordinance strengthening measures against ASF gets SP Kalinga’s approval

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The ordinance to strengthen measures against the spread of African Swine Fever in Pasil gets the approval of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Governor Dave Odiem.


Pasil Municipal Ordinance No. 2020-18, an ordinance on the adoption and implementation of the “Bantay African Swine Fever (ASF) sa barangay “or the “Babay ASF Program” providing powers thereof, and for other purposes, was crafted to strengthen implementation of activities for ASF prevention and control.


It seeks for the establishment of effective ASF monitoring, surveillance, and reporting systems; reinforce biosecurity measures at the farm level and border control; intensify awareness campaigns and other capacity building. It shall also assist in the recovery and repopulation of affected areas and generate and mobilize effective implementation of the program.


Councilor Ronnie Bawalan, who authored the ordinance, mentioned that they are trying to control the spread of the ASF virus in Pasil to protect the animals, specifically the swine. He added that since ASF entered the municipality, numbers of pigs have been depopulated.

“We are trying to control ASF through this ordinance. Adu ti nagtaraken ti baboy ditoy Pasil, saan da piman kasapulan a mapan dita Tabuk a gumatang ti karne ken live nu di ket gatangen da latta ditoy ayan mi ngem nanipud addan ti kaso ti ASF ditoy awanen dagiti taraken,” he explained.


Meantime, Vice Governor Odiem through his Official Facebook page stressed that this kind of ordinance, especially if urgent, immediately gets the approval of the SP members as long as it is in accordance with the law.
