Catanduanes, Philippines – After his controversial remark on the killing of Gregorio mother and son by a police officer this December 20, PCapt. Ariel Buraga, Bato Chief of Police was relieved from his post.

According to reports, Buraga was relieved upon recommendation of town mayor, Juan Rodulfo and upon violation of PNP policies on social media. Moreover, the COP is now being investigated on the matter.

Meantime, Buraga was under fire yesterday with his now deleted post, after he claimed the shooting incident in Tarlac should serve the people a lesson to respect the uniformed men and claimed that it was Sonia’s, the victim, fault that they were shot by PSMS Jonel Nuezca.

The suspect of the gruesome shooting of unarmed Gregorios was charged with double murder with no bail recommended.

Meantime, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque in a press briefing this December 22 said that despite the incident, the people should not generalize the Philippine National Police.

“Uulitin ko po, napakalaki po ng ating Philippine National Police. By enlarge respetado po sila dahil talagang buhay ang kanilang kapital sa trabaho. Huwag naman po nating lahatin,” he said.

Moreover, Roque said that the lesson of the incident is it will only take one of the uniformed men to destroy the reputation of the institution.

“It takes only one, one of you, to destroy the integrity and reputation of the institution. Bagamat sinasabi natin sa lahat na nag-iisang bugok lang iyan, pulis na iyan, nakita naman niyo ang epekto,” he said.
