Price increase of “Pasalubong” at Strawberry Farm in La Trinidad Benguet experienced

La Trinidad, Benguet- Prices of mostly sold ‘pasalubong’ at Strawberry Farm, La Trinidad, Benguet increased, Mt. Province Broadcasting reports Thursday, June 23.


The products that saw an increase include strawberry jam, ube jam, wines, peanut brittle, and crinkles, among others.


The hike in prices of said goods, according to the report, is a result of the increase in prices of other basic commodities such as the ingredients for food products like flour, butter, sugar, milk, and others.


According to the vendors, they need to raise prices as their suppliers also increased their prices.


In her interview with MPBC, Gil Agoda, one of the vendors, disclosed that some of the food products usually sold at 7 pieces or items for 100 pesos are now sold at 5 for 100.


At present, the price of jam went up by 20 to 30 pesos, while other food items that were usually sold 3 pieces for 100 pesos are now being sold at 50 pesos per piece.

Agoda shared that wine products, which used to be a best seller good, are now difficult to sell.


However, she said that they are still grateful despite the situation as there are still tourists visiting the place.


Meanwhile, the vendor expressed hope for continuous improvement of the present situation as they are just starting to recover from the losses they have suffered due to the pandemic.
