Pasil, Kalinga – Some 400 family food packs were distributed earlier today, July 29, 2022 to the quake-affected families and evacuees in Pasil, Kalinga.

The relief goods delivered were the response to the request made by the local government headed by Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr. to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Added to the family food packs are 30 family kits and 10 kitchen kits to aid families immediately needing help, says Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Officer Marlyn Pagutayao.

The assistance was distributed by the personnel of DSWD-Cordillera, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Philippine National Police, and other LGU staff and volunteers at Pasil Central School, which serves as the temporary emergency Operations Center (OPCEN) of the municipality.

More than 300 families in Pasil were reported to have been affected by the earthquake that jolted Luzon on Wednesday morning, July 27.

Mayor Malannag assured the public that the LGU is working with national line agencies to possibly provide more assistance, especially to those whose houses were damaged.

Meantime, Malannag cautioned the community to “stay at safe places” as a precautionary measure for aftershocks that might be felt following the powerful earthquake.
