Quick Action of Uncle Prevents Tragedy: 40-year-old man survives suicide attempt in Baguio

Baguio City, Philippines – A 40-year-old laborer in Baguio City attempted to take his own life, but he was rescued by his uncle on Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2026.


Police investigation, as cited by a local media, disclosed that the incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday where the victim went to the terrace to smoke. However, his uncle suddenly saw him jumping off with a rope tied around his neck.


The victim’s uncle immediately run to his aid and removed the rope. He likewise dialed the emergency medical responders who promptly arrived and managed to revive the victim. The 40-year-old was later brought to the hospital for further medical care.


It could be recalled that on March 1, two lives were lost to suicide in Baguio City. The victims were a 17-year-old male student and a 42-year-old man. These two incidents brought the suicide cases in the Summer Capital from January to March 2026 to five.
