Santa Marcela artisans enriched in crafting creative souvenirs and fashion accessories

Santa Marcela, Apayao - To provide an avenue for enhanced production of loom weaving products in the municipality, members of the Weavers Association underwent a two-day informative training at the Municipal Kiosk on LGU grounds on April 23-24, 2024.

 

Led by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI-Apayao), the training primarily focused on Product Development and Innovation, providing an immense and broad acquisition of knowledge and skills for the workers.


While these local producers had already undergone varied trainings, the initiative was deemed crucial to help them acquire new skill sets and ideas on creative designs in order to produce admirable products that captivate customers’ preferences and definitely help in income generation.

 

In her message during the culminating program, DTI Provincial Director Engr. Wena Buston inspired the participants to utilize the learnings they obtained in business and livelihood endeavors to supplement their household income. She advised them to choose quality over quantity, as this will ensure the sustainability and progress of the venture in the market. “Don’t go for quantity, uray bassit maaramid mo basta high quality,” she stressed.

 

Rolyolikha at Iba pa Handicraft CEO Renel A. Batrola served as the weavers’ guest trainer. He imparted his valuable proficiency in creativity and resourcefulness in the loom weaving industry, benefiting the loom weavers across the municipality.

 

For her part, Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez lauded the DTI’s ceaseless partnership with the LGU in providing relevant, fashionable, and innovative trainings for her constituents, contributing to a boost in the municipality’s economic status.
