Baguio City, Philippines – Mayor Benjamin Magalong has strongly condemned the alleged rape of a 23-year-old female police trainee by her instructor inside a training facility in Baguio City.

It can be recalled that the victim reported the incident to authorities on April 11. According to her, the 41-year-old suspect, a native of Pangasinan, raped her twice earlier this year.

She alleged that the first incident occurred on January 20 and the second on February 8, both inside the barracks of the suspect at the Cordillera Administrative Region Training Center (CARTC) in Teachers Camp, Baguio City.

Accompanied by a family member, the trainee formally filed a complaint against the instructor on April 13. Her identity was withheld by police to protect her privacy.

In a statement on April 15, Magalong expressed deep concern over the reported incident. He emphasized that acts of sexual abuse have no place in any professional environment, particularly in institutions tasked with upholding discipline and public trust.

“I express my deepest concern and condemnation over the reported incident wherein a police trainee was allegedly raped by her instructor. Such an act is deplorable, violates the dignity of the victim, and undermines the integrity of the PNP training institution. Sexual violence has no place in our training facilities and workplaces,” Magalong said, as quoted by local media outlets.

The mayor also extended sympathy to the victim and assured that the local government will provide the necessary psychosocial support for her recovery.

In an interview, an information officer of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) said that necessary documents are being prepared for the formal filing of charges against the suspect.
