Tabuk City, Kalinga – With a bid to conserve the Naneng Heritage Village in this city, the Sangguniang Panlungsod requested for P70 million from the Department of Tourism for its preservation efforts.

Through Resolution 134, members of SP Tabuk headed by Vice Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-as, the fund was proposed to be utilized to preserve the old wooden houses in the village to sustain its beauty and historical values.

The August body noted that the Naneng Heritage Village is the oldest village and the old center of Tabuk. It is also where the first local government of Tabuk was established.

Additionally, the wooden houses were said to have been built by the Naneng sub-tribe over a century ago. Also, the St. Joseph Church, one of the oldest catholic churches in Kalinga, is also found in the village.

With this, the SP members saw the need to preserve the Naneng Heritage Village, which is also the current center of heritage and culture of Tabuk City.

Meanwhile, through the Vice Mayor’s Office Facebook page, Dao-as said that there are a lot of local tourist destinations in Tabuk that need to be preserved and protected. He said that with its contribution to the local economy, these tourist spots should be well preserved, expressing his full support to the local tourism industry of the city.
