Rizal, Kalinga – iKalinga youth participating in the Barangay League 2026 in the municipality of Rizal were reminded by Board Member Julius B. Amla of the true essence of sports and the values they must uphold to keep their future bright.

Amla graced the opening of the sports activity last week in Barangay San Quintin, where young athletes from different barangays gathered to compete and showcase their skills on the court.

In his message to the student-athletes, Amla emphasized that winning is not only about trophies and medals. He stressed that true victory is measured by character, discipline, and respect.

The provincial legislator also warned the youth against illegal drugs, saying these would only ruin their future and the dreams they are striving to achieve.

“Let us respect one another and build harmonious relationships. Stay away from drugs—they will only destroy your dreams and your future,” Amla said in a post on his Facebook page.

In an interview, Amla further highlighted the vital role of sports in shaping young people, noting that activities like the Barangay League help keep them focused, disciplined, and away from negative influences.

Amla explained that when youth remain active and consistently engaged in sports, they develop discipline and perseverance—values they carry not only inside the court but also in life. Sports, he said, are important for guiding the youth away from vices that could damage their future.

Under the leadership of Mayor Karl Bugao Baac, the Rizal Barangay League 2026 aims not only to promote sportsmanship but also to strengthen camaraderie among barangays and encourage the youth to pursue a path toward a brighter future.
