Tabuk City, Kalinga – Coming to defend their seniors’ victory last year, Team Tribu Banwar’s new set of rising stars did not disappoint their predecessors and delivered the overall win in the 2025 Luzon Leg Muay Thai Championships – combat category.

Tribu Banwar, a group of young fighters in Tabuk City, is the defending champion in the said category, which drew around 500 combative athletes from Luzon who competed on June 4 – 7 in Laguna.

Coach Erwin Tagure told GURU Press Cordillera that his seasoned national fighters did not join the new set of athletes he sent to the competition this year, as they are preparing for a different fight in August.

While the young phenoms who represented Tabuk City this year are yet to be exposed to more national fights, they won most fights through technical knockouts, securing a total of 11 gold, 1 silver, and 7 bronze medals in the Muay Thai combat category of the competition. This made them the overall champion in the category once again.

They also took home 2 gold medals in the Mai Muay category, 1 bronze in Wai Kru, and a bronze in Muay Mai.

These athletes who earned the accolades and drove the team to successfully defend its title include Prince Erwin Tagure, Jhanaigh Matalang, Aldwin Bang-as, Kyle Galema, Jacob Gayol, Jaizer Gayol, Maximo Saking, Ralph Liwaliw, Culver Suyam, James Olatic, Vira Leigh Balagso, Tristan Matalang, Jacen Taclawan, Jaizer Taclawan, Piolo Chad Pascual, Jeffrey Gumad ang, Alexandra Cosagon, Shakespeare Bacacao, Klein Sulca, Tonet Tarnate, Joliva Baculi, and Jezcarl Dolyongan.

Coach Tagure, when asked about their preparations for the event, said they continued training right after their overall victory in the 2025 Northern Luzon Kickboxing Championships. He added that they concentrated on game plan, repetition of drills, and strength conditioning.

Tagure’s fellow coaches in the event were Thea Shivonne Tombali Baculi and Ronald Baculi.
