Tabuk Rotarians celebrate 28th year


Tabuk City, Kalinga ─ Rotarians from this city are set to share another round of services addressing community needs especially at this time of the CoVid-19 pandemic.


Rotary Club of Tabuk President Ermilinda Wandag said that to celebrate the 28th year of the Rotary Club (RC) of Tabuk, they have previously planned and scheduled several activities and projects which unfortunately were postponed due to the restrictions of the health crisis.


Through the Rotary Community Corp team that works in partnership with Rotary clubs, services are delivered to improve communities anchored on the belief that each has a shared responsibility to take action on the world’s most persistent issues.

Looking back at the history and achievements of Tabuk Rotary Club


The Rotary Club of Tabuk was chartered in March 22, 1993 through the initiative of the Rotary Club of Tuguegarao under Past District Governor Ramelo “Ramy” Ramirez.


It was then listed as the 39th club in the district. Former Laurence B. Wacnang who was Charter President stirred the club as the most active in the district despite the difficulties of a fledging organization.


Over the years, the club exhibited highest standard in business, practice of profession and in community considering that they come from a variety of classifications that choose to lead lives by their motto of “Service above self.”



Among the projects accomplished and facilitated is construction of one room school building, construction of water system with elevated tank and provision of livelihood project in Barangay Callagdao.


Through Gawad Kalinga, two housing projects and provision of seedlings was also done in Barangay Agbannawag.


Added to that is the improvement of one school building, construction of water system with elevated tank and hand washing station, and improvement of park are established in Sitio Maggabangon of Barangay Cudal.

A 3-room public comfort room was also constructed in Sitio Tomiangon of Barangay Dupag.


The Tabuk Waterworks and Sanitation Project located at Bulanao Norte Kalinga Special Education Center (KSPED), Sitio Magabbangon of Barangay Cudal, Barangay Guilayon, Barangay Laya West, Barangay Nambucayan and Lubo, Tanudan were also established by the club.


Moreover, the Tabuk Rotary Club has been active on Global Matching Grants which includes distribution of cattles (Cow) and polio eradication.


For their next community service, the club members have organized and set to accomplish the distribution of slippers thru “Tsinelas mo, proteksyon mo” program, distribution of hygiene kits and planting materials, activities in support to education, bloodletting projects and Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) on vaccination to combat vaccine hesitancy and misinformation by spreading the facts about why vaccines work.



As of now, the club has registered 26 members and has 3 baby Rotarians or prospect members.


Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers that see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change.
