Tabuk SP responds to safety concerns at the Bulanao Public Market

Updated: Nov 27, 2021

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Tabuk on Thursday, November 25, 2021, has moved to pass a resolution mandating the officials of Bulanao Centro to keep safe the construction materials that have been delivered and stocked within the vicinity of the Bulanao Public Market.

This is in response to the letter from the members of the Bulanao Public Market Stall Owners Vendors and Consumers Associations requesting for the removal of the large metals, owing to the fact that XRC Developers does not have a building permit yet or a go signal to begin construction of the mall that the Local Government Unit of Tabuk planned to erect within the Bulanao Public Market.

In their letter dated November 17, they requested the council to take action in ordering the City Engineering Office, the City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO), and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) to remove said construction materials owing to the fact that XRC Developers does not have yet a building permit, neither a go signal to begin construction.

They reasoned out that the letter was crafted as they are worried about possible accidents that will happen at the Bulanao Public Market which may be caused by the large metals delivered and stocked in the area.

They added that said materials also occupied a portion of the market, displacing several sellers.

“We believe the stockpiling of these construction materials presents hazards not only to sellers but people who frequent the market. We look forward to your favourable action before something happens. We know that the conscientious august body will consider the welfare of the people and know that this request is of public concern,” the group wrote.

Said request was further backed by the group’s legal counsel, Atty. Errol Comafay during the deliberation of the SP members in today’s regular session which was supposed to be attended by concerned officials of the City LGU and representatives from XRC Developers, but none of them heeded the request of SP and KARSA to explain matters on the construction of a mall in Bulanao market.

“Awan ti final contract, dapat kuma maikkat dagidiay landuk a nakatambak tatta idiay Bulanao Public Market ket nu awan ti final contract, han da kuma a mangbutbuteng kadagidiay taga market nga amangan ta mapapanaw da anytime soon. Pakidamag man a nalaing nu sinu ti nakaiggem iti final contract ta nu talaga nga awan ti contract, ikkaten da a dagidiay landok idiay,” he said.

Relative to this, Comafay also asked the august body to request for the list of beneficiaries to be granted lots in Callagdao, being a relocation site for those who will be displaced once the mall in Bulanao Public Market will be erected.

According to him, the list should be shown to the public as this is a public document and that the fund which was used to purchase the lot is a government fund. Comafay added that they want to determine whether the beneficiaries listed are qualified to be granted the lots.

Councilor Zorayda Mia Wacnang, in a response, clarified that they have already moved for the crafting of a resolution asking for the list of beneficiaries of both the land and those who opted for stalls.
