No Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ in the Philippines? No problem, the Filipino fans can improvise.

The Philippines is undeniably a nation of Swifties, a collective name for Taylor Swift admirers. In fact, the country was even cited number one globally in Google search interest for the pop superstar.

Quezon City was likewise included among the top 13 cities in the world listening to the singer-song writer’s songs on Spotify.

In spite of these, Taylor’s ongoing smash-hit Eras Tour will not be stopping by in the Philippines.

Disappointed, yes, but the Filipino fans particularly those who cannot afford to see the pop titan in Singapore and Japan in 2024 have devised their way of experiencing the record-breaking tour without actually going to see the real Taylor perform live.

Recently, drag queens like Taylor Sheesh have been dressing like Taylor and performing her songs to a crowd of Swifties all over the country.

Baguio City was no exemption to the trend, as around 6,000 fans in the city and neighboring place gathered at SM Baguio for ‘Swifties Night’ on Sept. 24 where they sang along to the pop star’s timeless songs together with drag queens and local artists.

Michael Jayson Pena, SM Assistant Mall Manager told PTV Cordillera that they organized the event since this is what the young ones want.

“Yan ang mga hinahanap ng mga kabataan ngayon, ‘no? So it became popular not only here in the Philippines also abroad. So para to cater to the residents of Baguio, dinala na natin siya dito in Northern Luzon,” he said.
