Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Municipality of Tinglayan, in a bid to help students prepare for their career paths, empowered learners to make informed decisions about their future through the District Career Expo 2026 held on March 25.

The District Career Expo is a localized event conducted by the Department of Education (DepEd) in partnership with local government units (LGUs) to provide career guidance, job matching, and training opportunities to students, particularly those in Grade 12.

DepEd said the initiative aims to prepare learners for employment, entrepreneurship, or higher education.

In this year’s Tinglayan District Career Expo, the municipality gathered students from various high schools and convened them at the Municipal Gym in Poblacion. Participants came from St. Theresita’s High School Tinglayan, Inc., Southern Tinglayan National High School (STNHS), Bangad National High School, Tinglayan National High School, and Sumadel National High School.

Clad in different workplace attire and uniforms representing the professions they aspire to pursue, the students listened to success stories of individuals who defied the odds to achieve their career goals, inspiring them to persevere and continue serving their fellow iKalingas and Filipinos.

Other highlights of the event included participants engaging with partner agencies and institutions through a gallery walk and interactive sessions.

Among those who attended the event was Municipal Administrator Atty. Mark Dave Bang-as, who represented Mayor Charles Abay.

Through his administrator, Abay encouraged the youth to strive for excellence and study hard, emphasizing that their actions today will greatly influence their future success.

The mayor also expressed his gratitude to the personnel and officials of DepEd-Kalinga and the Municipality of Tinglayan for organizing the career expo, which he said would greatly help students plan and prepare for their future.
