TUGUEGARAO CITY — A viral Facebook Live video allegedly showing a male content creator physically assaulting his female partner has prompted authorities to launch an investigation and appeal to the public for information that could help locate those involved.

The livestream, which circulated widely on social media on July 23, allegedly showed the man repeatedly hurling profanities at the woman during a heated argument. As the confrontation escalated, he was seen allegedly slapping her and pulling her by the hair while the broadcast was still live.

The Facebook Live video and the account that streamed it have since been deleted. However, copies of the footage continued circulating online after concerned netizens downloaded and shared the video with authorities.

The incident prompted Tuguegarao City Mayor Maila Ting-Que to direct the Tuguegarao Component City Police Station to immediately investigate the incident, verify the facts, and ensure the safety and welfare of the alleged victim.

"I have directed the Tuguegarao City Police to investigate, verify the facts, and ensure the safety and welfare of the victim in a video aired live earlier in the day showing disturbing violent behavior by a 'vlogger'," Ting-Que said in a statement.

The mayor said concerned netizens continued sending copies and links of the deleted livestream, which allegedly showed the woman being repeatedly assaulted. She urged anyone with firsthand information about the incident to immediately report it to authorities.

"We do not condone violent acts, especially against women and children," Ting-Que said, adding that the city government had forwarded copies of the video to the appropriate agencies to help identify the alleged victim, the suspected aggressor, and determine their whereabouts.

According to the Tuguegarao Component City Police Station, the man involved is reportedly a resident of Barangay Ugac Norte, Tuguegarao City. However, investigators clarified that the alleged assault captured in the livestream did not occur within the city's jurisdiction.

Police said officers initially went to the suspect's residence but were unable to locate him. Authorities have since coordinated with neighboring police units to determine where the incident took place, locate the couple, and ensure the safety of the alleged victim.

Authorities have withheld the identities of both the alleged victim and the suspect while the investigation is ongoing.

Police also appealed to the public to report any information that could assist the investigation, assuring informants that all reports will be treated with strict confidentiality.
