Pasil, Kalinga – The long-awaited cash grant to senior citizens in Pasil has been distributed recently after their 300 peso-monthly allowance has been accumulated for a year.
The 1,292 qualified yPasil senior citizens each received P3,600.00 assistance through the unconditional cash transfer (UCT) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on August 10 to 11, 2021 at the Municipal Hall, Amdalao.
Pasil Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Segundina D. Gumabay said that the beneficiaries were identified through the Listahanan program conducted by DSWD through the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-TR).
From the total target of 1, 332 senior citizens, around 13 grantees were not able to claim their payout, while 27 beneficiaries died.
“Daytoy nga unclaimed ken death ket maala da met lang kanu ngem sabali nga schedule kasi adda iti additional requirement a masapul nga isubmit dagiay family a beneficiaries kasla ti death certificate,” she said.
The UCT is a one-time cash subsidy provided to qualified poor households and individuals to help them cope with the adverse economic impact of Republic Act No. 10963 or Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law.
Under the program, poor households who may not benefit from the tax cuts provided by TRAIN Law but may be affected by rising prices are given cash grants.
