Tabuk City, Kalinga - A total of 414 families in Tabuk City who were once beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are now ready to leave the government’s program after reaching a stable and self-sufficient way of living.

The Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Office - Kalinga shared this good news, calling it a sign of the program’s success.

The families, according to information released by SWAD-Kalinga reported by Philippine Information Agency–Kalinga, are now earning enough money to meet their daily needs without the help of government financial support.

They will be honored in a special event called “ Pugay Tagumpay” in June this year to celebrate their achievement and the success of the program.

According to the SWAD-Kalinga, out of the 3,575 registered households in Tabuk City, 3,338 of them were classified as level 2  or “subsistence.” This means that these families have limited income but can survive.

SWAD-Kalinga added that there are no families left in level 1 or in the “ survival” level, which shows that the 4Ps program is working well.

To ensure the continued success of the program, the beneficiaries were reminded during the Family Development Sessions to use the cash support wisely.

Implemented in Tabuk City in 2011, the 4Ps is a national government program that provides conditional cash transfers to poor households to improve the health, nutrition, and education of their children.
