45 farmers in Mt. Province train for organic agriculture under project “ESEK”

Besao, Mountain Province― With the aim to enhance the knowledge, attitude and skills in the utilization of agricultural lands to increase food production, 45 farmers in Tamboan, Besao benefit from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Project Environmental Sustainability through Ecological Kinetics (ESEK).


Project "ESEK" in the dialect of the people of Besao means to plant which was launched last July 2020 in partnership with the members of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) chaired by TESDA-CAR.


Beneficiaries are grouped in three batches for the implementation of 18-day Organic Agriculture Production NC II Training with four components that include organic vegetables, organic poultry and swine, organic concoction, and organic fertilizer.


Each of the participants is provided with a daily allowance of P160.00; internet load of P500.00; free face masks and face shield, and an individual insurance with the GSIS applicable for one year.


In a released TESDA video, Winnilyn Guesaed, one of project ESEK beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude to the agencies as the project enables them to suffice their daily needs especially in this time of crisis.


“Isa ako sa mga mapalad na trainee nitong OAP NCII conducted by TESDA under project ESEK naganap dito sa Dandanac, Tamboan, Besao, Mt. Province. Malaki ang pasasalamat ko sa mga Ahensya na nagdala ng training dito sa aming probinsya at successful ito dahil natuto kami patungkol sa Organic Agriculture,” he said.


After the training, TESDA provides free assessment to all the participants with expected outputs that will sustain their food security at the same time a source of income for their families.


Said project is also in line with food security priority, food sustainability and agricultural productivity of the national government towards a new normal and in support to the project of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on poverty reduction through livelihood programs.
