767 loose firearms surrendered, recovered in Cordillera for 2020

Tabuk City, Kalinga — In its intensified campaign against loose firearms, the Philippine National Police Cordillera recovered a total of 767 assorted loose or unlicensed guns in the region for the year 2020 while 80 gun violators were arrested.


Based on the report of PNP Cordillera, 657 of the 767 accounted loose firearms were surrendered by individuals and stakeholders; 86 were confiscated; and 24 were recovered from different police operations.

Moreover, 288 of these loose firearms were surrendered and recovered in Abra; 128 in Benguet; 86 in Ifugao; 77 in Kalinga; 72 in Mountain Province; 69 in Apayao; and 47 in Baguio City.


Meanwhile, from various police operations, 80 gun violators were arrested. 23 of them were arrested in Kalinga and Abra; 11 in Baguio; 8 in Apayao; 6 in Mountain Province; 5 in Ifugao; and 4 in Benguet.


Additionally, 72 cases were filed in court.
