Abra farmers get P7M worth of modern farm machery in a bid to boost their income opportunities

Pidigan, Abra - Farmers across the province of Abra received P7,000,000 worth of modern farm machinery from the Department of Agriculture—Cordillera this Tuesday, September 9.


The DA-CAR, through its Corn Program and High Value Crops Development Program, provided the assistance to improve income opportunities for the farmers while boosting the province’s agriculture sector.

Among the machinery distributed were four-wheel drive tractors, walking-type agricultural tractors, pump irrigation systems for open source, trailers, corn seeders, water tanks, and complete pump and engine sets with hoses.


Said equipment is expected to ease labor and improve efficiency in the field. Benefiting from the agricultural support were 23 farmers' organizations in the province.


According to the Philippine Information Agency - Abra, the turn-over ceremony took place in the municipality of Pidigan, where the farmers’ groups expressed gratitude to the agency, stating that the aid would not only lessen manual work but also be a big help to enhance their production.


Meanwhile, officials from the DA-Cordillera emphasized that the initiative is part of their ongoing effort to modernize agriculture in the region while reminding the beneficiaries to take care of the given farm equipment for longterm use.
