Baguio City, Philippines – The City of Baguio surpassed the 70 percent herd immunity rate set by the Department of Health (DOH) for its adult populace, while the minors’ vaccination rate is still at 36 percent.

Baguio City Health Services Office head Dr. Rowena Galpo said this during the management committee meeting as reported through the Public Information Office of Baguio on Friday, November 12, 2021.

Based on the data provided by PIO Baguio, 90.20% or 254,302 of the city’s adult (18 and above) population already received their first dose of the vaccine while 72.13% or 203,674 are fully vaccinated. Said numbers are from a reference population of 281,000.

For ages 12-17 years old, or the pediatric group, 16,784 or 36.75% of the eligible population of 42,811 have already received their first dose.

With said rate, unvaccinated adults and the pediatric population are then told to register at bakuna.baguio.gov.ph to obtain QR codes which they will present on their vaccination schedule.

“Vaccine schedules are posted daily at the Baguio City Health Services Office and Public Information Office Facebook pages,” PIO-Baguio stated.

Relative to this, Baguio City also plans to administer booster shots for health workers and senior citizens starting November 15, 2021, as the city has enough supply of vaccines.

“We have enough Pfizer for our booster shots and meron din tayong mga AstraZeneca sobra sobra nga ang ating vaccine ngayon eh, madami tayong vaccine,” Magalong said.

Magalong likewise mentioned that the city donated vaccines to other municipalities in the Cordillera and also to other regions, Regions 2 and 3.

“We are sharing eh, so we have enough vaccine. At pagdating sa booster shot, I don't think that it would be a problem. Ganun din yung ating mga minors because right now yung mga minors natin we are only authorized to administer Pfizer,” the mayor said.
