Balbalan, Kalinga to celebrate Linggo ng Kabataan on Jul 10-11; contests of talents to be highlighted

Balbalan, Kalinga – The individual talents and skills of young people in the Municipality of Balbalan will be the highlight of this year’s Linggo ng Kabataan on July 10 – 11 at the KDCM gym in Poblacion.

The event is an annual celebration in the town, but what makes it remarkable for the 2025 activity is the array of activities prepared by the youth and the LGU which allow individual talents to shine.

Said activities include dance craze competition, digital logo making, slogan making, Balbalan’s Got Talent, and modernized pattong, among others.

Unlike in the past Linggo Ng Kabataan which centered on team sports events like basketball and volleyball, this year, apart from talent and skills competitions, gives way to individual events like table tennis.

Mayor Almar Malannag who approved the activities proposed by the youth said there are a lot of talented youngsters in Balbalan like singers, dancers, writers, and artists. He believes that providing them a platform where they can share their talents and skills will further cultivate their gifts.

“Haan kami nag-focus iti sports. Nagfocus kami kadagitoy individual events ta kayat tayo nga imotivate isuda nga adda iti laing da ngem mabain da lang nga mangiruwar. Adu iti individual nga laing da ngay ket diay iti kayat mi nga supportaran ta dagiay nga laing ket haan da nga maisukat dagiay, dagiay ket isu dagiay kusa nga naited kanyada,” he conveyed.

The mayor is inviting every iBalbalan youth to come and participate in the two-day event, encouraging them to not just share their talents but also to have fun and meet new friends, adding it is a great opportunity to socialize and expand their networks.
