Cordillera Farmers, Fisherfolk get more than P200M cash aid from PBBM

Luna, Apayao - More than P200M financial assistance from the office of the President was given to Farmers and fisherfolks affected by the El Niño phenomenon in the Cordillera Region, on Friday, July 19, in Luna, Apayao.

 

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the ceremonial distribution of various government assistance which comprise monetary support of P50 million for each Provincial Governments of CAR including Apayao, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province; P34.5 million to the Provincial Government of Abra; and P29.7 million to the Provincial Government of Benguet.

The President also spearheaded the ceremonial distribution of the Presidential Assistance amounting to P10,000 each to 60 select beneficiaries from the Provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province, and was facilitated by the DSWD.

 

The amount purposes to help augment needs of the agricultural and fisheries communities and families whose livelihoods have been severely affected by drought. Aside from the cash assistance, farm or agricultural tools and machineries were also awarded to the recipient-farmers. Additionally, five (5) kilos of rice were provided by the Office of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez to every event attendee.

 

The distribution was done simultaneously at the designated venues per municipality in Apayao Province but for Pudtol and Luna beneficiaries, it was held at the BGVJR Sports Center.

 

Participating government agencies likewise awarded some monetary aids, training and education grants, and livelihood programs to Apayao recipients.

 

Provincial governors and other dignitaries from the Cordillera Administrative Region joined Marcos in the event and received their assistance.
