Echague, Isabela - Unlike other people who have enjoyed their Holy Week vacation, a family in Echague, Isabela is now grieving the loss of their father following a tragic accident.
According to police reports, the casualty, identified as Romuel Chris Borromeo, was with his sons (two and seven years old) on Saturday, March 30, 2024, when he parked his tricycle on the side of the road in Barangay Castillo to fix its damaged clutch.
While he was repairing the clutch, a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), driven by Joshua Dario Go, a resident of Makati City, suddenly crashed into their vehicle.
Investigation revealed that the SUV struck a motorcycle first which suddenly turned towards a gasoline station. After crashing into the motorcycle, Joshua lost control of his car causing him to hit the victims' vehicle.
The victims sustained severe injuries due to the incident and were rushed to a hospital by the responding authorities. While the two children were able to survive, Romuel was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
Joshua, meanwhile, was taken to the custody of Echague Police Station for proper documentation and disposition. He will be facing charges for reckless driving resulting to homicide with double serious physical injuries, and damage to property.
